W latach 70 tych, w czasach politycznych represji w Argentynie, pewna dziennikarka wraz z innymi osobami zostaje niespodziewanie porwana. Jej mąż Carlos, reżyser teatralny, po niezadowalającej reakcji policji, postanawia na własną rękę odnaleźć żonę. Przyłącza się do grupy ludzi których bliscy zostali podobnie porwani, odkrywa też magiczny dar - możliwość widzenia ludzkich myśli, doświadczeń. Dzięki temu potrafi przewidzieć, że ojciec chłopca który występuje w jego teatrze zostanie uwolniony. Jego dar pozwala mu dotrzeć do ludzi którzy gdzieś na odludziu uwięzili żonę. Nie jest to proste ale pomagają mu m.in.: Sara i Amos Sternbergowie - żydowska para emigrantów, którzy przeżywszy koszmar Auschwitz rozumieją halucynacje i wizje Carlosa... To film romantyczny, na poły dramat i thriller - wzruszający i budzący emocje...
